Default ec300 coolant header tank?

I've a 2002 ec 300 which had over heating issues since I have skimmed the head replaced o rings and copper washers checked the water pump and changed the jets bigger to 180 and 55. My next step is a good coolant but was wondering is it possible to fill the coolant system and the header tank as well to use more coolant. If so how do you do it? If I fill the rad to the top it runs out the overflow an nothing goes to the header tank. There is no way to fill the header tank by its self?

That tank is for expansion, get the bike hot and you will see coolant in it. I would put the recommended amount in mate.
Think your problem is else were. Have you checked for air leaks on the crank seals or base gasket or the reed block and carb
Or is there to much skimmed off the head and causing the problem

if it's running out the overflow instead of expanding into the tank then your cap sounds to be the issue. It should expand into the tank before the cap dumps it out the overflow.

Cheers for the replays I fitted a 1.8 cap and put in motul pre mixed coolant and added a motul additive called moocool which is supposed to keep them running cooler. I put in about 1litre of coolant and after about 3 hours of slow riding the coolant level has stayed the same.
