I replaced the clutch side crank seal even though it was in perfect shape.
I've had to replace one in a combined 420+hours of engine use.

I've had to replace 2 x counter shaft seals due to some very wet seasons and lots of mud.

I've gone through a few linkage bearings due to lack of maintenance, and a couple of wheel bearing sets too; again due to riding wet and muddy conditions constantly.

Where is this going??

Magic with getting these bikes to run right is simple.. get the head clearance reduced. Have the compression ratio adjusted back. Clean up any casting floors in the cylinder while you are at it. Set the float, jet and forget.

Update - idling - but smoky - No hanging idle

Current Needle - JD blue - 2nd clip
Main - 178
Pilot jet - 40
Idle jet is 2.5 turns out

OK - I must of whacked the float taking it in and out so many times - It was hanging down about 13mm - I reset it to 8.5mm

Installed new choke - non-remote - bad thing have a real hard time reaching it when the front drive chain is in place - I do have a new remote choke as well - but wanted to eliminate one variable.

Jakobi - This bike doesn't have many hours on it - at the very most 60.

It's real smoky on idle - but 1/4 throttle lifts the front end - without me hanging off the back of the seat. Seeing a decent amount of oil out the muffler.

I do have the over sized tank on my Christini - it does help. Did you check your float height ?

Default Update

OK - Interesting -

Jetting - 178 Main
Pilot - 38 - 1 turn out

Float height 7mm - reduced from 8.5mm.

When the bike is upright - and put it in gear, if I tilt onto the kickstand the motor will idle down real low. If I hold it upright - with it in gear - it will just sit and idle no issues. That is why I went to the 7mm float height to see if this changed - NOPE - No change.

Any ideas ?

I bought the 300 - because the power was supposed to be closer to my 2008 -Yamaha wr450. I have to say I love the power of my wr450 - completely linear with exceptional torque. I haven't had to down shift on this bike going up steep hills either - it just tractors. The traction is really good - but have to admit its probably the rear tire - MITAS 946 - ice and snow tire -
AWESOME tire - but expensive.

If I could of put my Yamaha wr450 motor in the Christini - I would have done it.

How are your brakes ? The Christini brakes on my bike are a bit tougher than my wr450.

brake seem to be ok as i am not a experience rider ( 4 year now) i was on a honda 250x before and now the cristini ... with the poor millage i am getting with it i almost wish i have done the conversion kit on it instead or buy the 450ds.. but yesterday was fun i got stuck on a depth mud hole as i forgot to turn the awd on .. switch it on and like magic i came out. it was so cool to see both tire spinning to get me out .. by the way i did 10 klm more before reserve ( i play with the float bolw ) not much but better ( from 15mpg to 17 mpg lol) ..i cannot wait to get my jd stuff ...my goal it to get 22mpg or 65 klm before reserve ...but it is a small tank 2.2 gallon only ..
