Official Weight Thread
Just ran the 2012 300 Race across a set of certified scales. I wouldn't have guessed this many jellybeans, but all dressed up it weighs 260# even.
Adjustments from a base weight * Ironman 50T ilo Talon 48T * Fastway F3 pegs * PlusOnePerformance radiator braces * Michelin S12XC ilo Six Days tire * Flexx bars with Fastway handguards * Rekluse clutch cover ilo composite stocker Fuel tank is 3/4 full , but the oil and water are topped up. [Topped the tank up with 1 gallon of 100-octane love, so I guess you're looking at about 266 lbs fully dressed and ready to dance.]

260 sounds kinda heavy however most bikes are much heavier than the "claimed" weight. Many years ago when Dirt Bike magazine ran an article on actual, ready to ride weights there were alot people who felt the results couldn't be correct, but they were. The only bikes I've ever known to be truly lightweight were 125 mx'ers and Trials machines. I'd like to know the actual weight of any 450 enduro w/armor, heavy duty tubes, full gas tank and some mud splattered on it. I guess whether the bike feels heavy and/or wears you out is still a big factor.

I used a basic 300 lb. bathroom scale that I tared at 230 pounds with weights from my son's set. The bike was lifted on an ATV/MC hydraulic jack.
2003 EC300 with: Bark busters, Flatland radiator guards, Devol shark fin, FMF gnarly pipe, Flatland pipe guard, Flatland skid plate, number plate, Fastway footpegs, simple wiring harness, empty fuel tank. 254 pounds. (~269 with full 2.5 gal tank)

Those weights sound about right. You sure wouldn't guess they are as heavy as they are if you ever rode one, they feel 40 pounds lighter while riding I think because they carry the weight so low.

Here are some numbers from two of my old KTM's. This is copied from an old thread that I created on KTMTALK. I haven't weighed my GasGas yet. I should add that my 2009 250 rode lighter than the 350, and the Gasser rides lighter than both of the KTM's.
My bathroom scale isn't exactly calibrated to a nats azz, but I figure it's close enough to be able to compare two bikes. 2009 250xcw with: Scotts Stabilizer, hand guards, watchdog computer, extra homemade brace that spans from one hand guard to the other and bolts to the triple clamp, Bullet Proof Designs radiator braces, approx. 1.5 gallons of gas, KTM World Works suspension, Probend handle bars, everything else is stock. Front end weighed 123 lb, Rear end weighed 125 lb, total = 248lb 2011 350sxf with: EE hand guards and shields, EE radiator braces, EE slave guard, EE seat, EE Shark fin, EE skid plate, EE suspension, EE graphics, and a trace of gas. Front 119-120lb, Rear 126-127lb (weighed it twice), total = 245-247lb. Ride report/comparison to come later. Last edited by singletracker; 07-15-2012 at 12:23 PM. Reason: Added info |
