Thumbs up News flash. Chain slap noise fix!!!

Issue: Clanking noise from bike while the rear suspension compresses while riding. Sounds like rocks hitting the plastic skid plate. It may sound like the the front brake hose is hitting the headlight.

Correction: Install a saw tooth chain roller from a 2007 Kawasaki 450F, in place of the GasGas upper roller.
The chain roller is listed under the "Frame & Footrest" then "Frame Fittings "
Kawasaki Part # 92122-0016

The chain roller does not come with bearings. I bought a generic chain roller and used the bearings from it. Little cheaper.
You will need to use the OEM GasGas chain roller bolt and spacer. The GasGas spacer will need to shortened 13mm on the longer side that mates with the bearing.

The mod is a 100% fix for the chain clanking noise. The noise travels through the bike frame and is hard to pinpoint.
The saw tooth design absorbs the shock from the chain, eliminating any noise concerns.
I had 30 miles on this roller when I took the pic. Seems to hold up well.

Thank you for posting this fix! My 2014 Factory Edition 300 was making the exact noise that you described. I was going crazy trying to find it (seemed to coming from the front end). I replaced both upper and lower rollers with the suggested parts and the noise is completely gone.
Thanks again for the great fix!

I replaced the upper one with Kawi a couple of rides ago and must admit that I have forgotten about it.

That probably means it works.

Stepped spacer removed revealed a 8mm hole. Bit of a spacer on inboard side to centralise and the right washer on outboard side. Nice Allen bolt and nyloc nut. Job jobbed.

Cheers.

You're welcome.
I definitely lost some hairs on trying to figure out the source of the noise.

Yes roller skate bearings cheap as. 8mm ID and whatever the roller inner is. They push in past the lip easily enough.

not looked too closely, but wouldn't fitting bearings to the oem rollers work just as well? may have to drill them out a bit
