Hose clamps
The hose clamp for the boot on the air intake side is different than on the engine side. I?m wondering if there is a reason for this. I don?t see why they wouldn?t just use the same clamp unless there is a reason. On the air intake side it is the ratcheting style, on the engine side it has a flange that only lets you tighten to a certain point and stops. This clamp feels cheap and I want to replace it with a ratcheting style it is starting to bend at the flange. Any reason why I shouldn?t do this?

Its a very simple reason. The "cheap" clamp prevents overtightening which would deform the rubber boot on the engine side. The engine side is more important as uncontrolled air -e.g. due to a cracked/deformed boot - would harm the performance and finally the motor.
The air filter side is less critical. And believe it or not, the "cheap" clamp is actually more expensive Cheers Doc |
