Honestly I have only ridden it at an indoor motocross track so far so its kind of hard to tell too much. The one thing that jumps out at me is that the jetting seems spot on right out of the box. I also had to get rid of the 50t sprocket and go to a 48t like I usually run. The bike is set up identical to my 2012 so I probably wont be able to give an opinion on the linkage change until I get it outside. No complaints though thats for sure.

I can't imagine why guys are running a 50t sprocket??? The stock 48 on the '12 seems to pull solid just fine for me also. Good to hear the jetting is close.

All depends on the terrain. 52t is way better in New England, however I have considered going to 50t when I go down to NJ this year.

For me its two things:

Like eff and myself, if you climb rocks, a low first is a good thing.

Second, for mortals in the super tight stuff, you want to avoid the 1-2/2-1 shift accross neutral. First is your bailout.

On average, this seems to translate into 51 or 52 on a 250 and 50 on the 300.

That's a good point. Never thought of it that way but again it's never been an issue for me. Honestly, I haven't ridden the GG in the really rocky terrain in the east. Only the hills of southern Ohio and the 48 works great there for the 300. I may try a 50 just to see the difference but for NJ I'd definitely stay with the 48.

I have tried a 49 and a 50 in all types of terrain. For me the 50 makes 1st and most of second gear useless. It actually causes me to shift more. The 49 is just weird, I could never find the right gear. On top of that, in an enduro situation the 50 makes long two track or road transfer sections a little annoying because the bike screams down the road. Even with the 48 my bike really only sees first gear in the pits.

I guess it all depends what your primary type of riding is.

51t on my '12 250 also makes 2nd gear starts just about perfect. On a strong running 300, maybe too low.

Did you ever take a pic with the graphics mounted? My stock ones are lifting off and it looks like new graphics will be necessary soon.

The 50 is to much, tried that already. 48 is perfect for the 300 around here. Makes 2nd and 3rd gear my most used gears and also like Jeff the bike still screams loudly down the straights even with the 48. A 50 on the 250 was good, but have now put a 48 on there for the wife so she doesn't flip the bike over onto her so easily.
