lowering link help please
I recently installed 124mm links on my 2011 300 Six Days (thanks jhendr)
Weird thing is my free length went from 597mm to 592mm. Only 5mm? My static sag went from 33mm to 36mm. I haven't been able to check race sag yet but the preload is set at about 10mm. I was thinking my free length would have changed more. Any thoughts?

There could be some subtle differences in linkage geometry from the older bikes to your '11, but likely not. If I remember on my '03 the change with the 124s was more like 10mm. What it also does is increase the leverage on the shock, so the bike will be using more of the initial travel faster. For this reason it may feel like it is riding lower than it actually is on the stand. Like having a slightly softer spring.

I had mine lowered professionally. We worth the few hundred $ it cost.

The linkage ratio remains the same so it works the way the designers intended, but you've got a lower seat to through your leg over. There are no issues with tire to fender clearance either.

Steve, I am hesitant to spend the $300 to $500 bucks to lower my bike correctly. What if I don't like it? What if 1" is not enough? What if I miss the added ground clearance? I really need to try someone else's lowered bike first and see if I like it and then when my suspension needs serviced spend the money and have it done right.
Thanks for your input,Brian.

I've used lowering links in the past and now have my bikes professionally lowered. It's worth every penney to me.
