I just pulled all the clutch plates out of a 2005 250 and put them into a 2004 300. Everything seems to work fine. If that helps. I didn't swap the baskets though.

I e-mailed Go Fasters about the clutch baskets. Haven't heard back yet.

The stock basket is good quality, its just not a forever part.

Perhaps another option is to machine the fingers and install replacable steel inserts like the Barnett basket. Then it would be a forever part. I called the guy in PA (Stormin Norman Racing) that used to provide this service but his phone is disconnected. He was the first, before Barnett. I do not think it would be too hard for a guy like Ron or Les to have a quantity of inserts (relatively cheap stampings) made up and machine your basket for install. I even suspect that the inserts could be designed for use on different baskets(bikes). Stormin Norman Racing used to charge about $100 for this service. Not bad considering the result.

I'm intrested. More intrested in a full assembly hub, basket, pressure plate. A good basket is not going to stop the hub from grooving. I think there would be better luck approaching Talon because they operate more in the euro market.

Mark at Go Fasters said the newer 05-10 basket will work in the older bikes. So possibly over 10 model years of GG bikes. Good info to give Barnett to encourage them to make a basket. I suggested to Mark he contact Barnett as well.

There is a beautiful basket available in Europe from 2T Racing but it's almost $350 before shipping

I can say the basket from my 97 seamed to fit well in my 03 and the 03 in the 97.. if it wasnt for the wear on the 97 basket you couldnt tell the difference from it and the newer one..

My neighbor recently bought a machine shop. If someone can send me an old basket, I'll talk to him about the steel insert mod and see if he is interested in this service and the cost. No promises just an idea.

Can the steel inserts on the Barnett baskets be purchased separately for replacement if neccessary?

Glenn,
I have an old basket kicking around that I could mail out if your neighbour is truly interested in doing this.

I would be very interested in a cost effective clutch basket replacement. The stock one is ridiculously expensive.

One more issue. The old basket that Steve has is the same as mine that failed. Both had a piece break off, but mine was the whole finger. The used basket I replaced it with looked beefier and was different.

Glenn, if your neighbor was to do this he would need two different inserts for the fingers. I will try to post a photo tonight. I took photos of both baskets.
