New 19 EC300 pinging
Morning all, just picked up a new 19 EC 300, trying to get sorted. I also have a 18 GP 300. Live in Ohio. I changed the needle out to a N3CJ 3rd clip with a 42 pilot,178 main and AS at 1.5 turns. Put me pretty close to where I need to be. Running race pace and big climbs the bike starts pinging like it's running out of fuel or getting hot, which it's not. Raised the needle to 4th clip and no improvement. First thought was float level, good there. Haven't checked the squish yet. Going to Michigan this weekend with lots of sand. Bike runs really good with this needle.
Any ideas? TIA

Thanks guys, both things I didn't think of. Now that I think about it, before I moved to Costa Rica in 18 I always ran 110 octane, leaded ethanol free race gas from the Marathon close to where I lived. I used it because it was good, clean gas. I'll give it a shot.

I raised the needle up one clip and the good gas seemed to help. Ran a race last weekend and didn't notice it.

You'd be Surprised how much gas degrades in a vented tank left for 3 weeks before the next ride,
Put in the wife's mini cooper. Probably block the injectors, but . . . I'll use it in my hiace.
