I tried a rubber pipe O ring spacer on the inside as well, and it worked great for a very short period of time. It surprisingly burned up quickly ( under 1 hour). I also tried a high temperature resistant gasket material ring that also worked for a short time before burning up to nothing. That?s why I think a proper cooper exhaust washer will do the trick. Or maybe just reinstalling my other pipe once the bracket is repaired.
I did use new pipe springs, new rubber O rings and a new KTM style rubber pipe isolator mount for anybody who may be wondering.
