Marzocchi 48 shim stack profile.
Hi all.
Can anyone here tell me the stock shim stack profile for the 48mm zook found on the 2015 ec300? My forks are harsh as hell on high speed compression. I have my comp clicker wound all the way out which is not ideal. I have adjusted the PFP out to the soft setting and its still quite harsh. I am considering a revalve or alternatively change from 7.5wt to 5wt oil. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. |

Take a look in the long thread about this fork; Marzocchi 48 CC forks. I can not give you a link as I am on Tapatalk at the moment. I am pretty sure you will find the stack there. My 15 200 has the same compression stack as described in that thread. The midvalve and rebound I have not checked. I replace the oil with Ohlins 2.5 at the last service. That makes it softer as can be expected. It must however be said that its cold here now. I dont know if 2.5 will work well during summer. I also reduced the outer oil volume somewhat.

The 15 fork is plush from the factory, but has a mid valve spike due to excessive float, with a stiff mid valve - good for elite riders. If you want somewhere to start tuning look at removing the mid valve bleed shim, reducing the float to .3 or .4 and softening the mid valve stack. You can leave the base valve for a good improvement (initially). Make sure the pfp is less than 2 turns in from all the way OUT. A good way make sure of its setting is to wind it lefty loosely till it GENTLY seats and then wind it righty tighty 1 turn then see how the fork performs then. If you've got more than 3 turns set it can get uncomfortable. Ps you get the best out of this bike with correct springs for your weight/speed.

Anders. Did you change from 7.5wt to 2.5wt with no valving changes? I am considering doing the same to see how it behaves before i lash out on valving mods.

Other than being softer did you notice anything with the clickers? Did you have to slow compression and rebound to compensate the lighter oil at all? If you dont mind me asking mate how much do ya weigh in at on the stock valving? Im 75kg without riding gear on.

I'm more like 85kg, but I am old and slow. I expected I had to do a respring but the sag numbers are not far off with the OEM springs so I haven't done anything yet.
I had to slow down the rebound. Now I use 7 clicks out. The compression I wanted to become softer and it did. The compression clickers are still almost completely out. Sent fra min GT-I9295 via Tapatalk
