'12 ec250e with ASII 38mm. I have been playing with a JD jet kit.
10-20C degrees
Sea level - 1000ft.
40p
180M
JD red 1 down from center.
A/S 1.5-1.75 turns out
Just changed from a 45p and JD blue, 1 down from center. Was too rich before and was fouling plugs with a bad bog past half throttle. New setup is better but I think I have to go leaner with my Main as I still have a bog when hard on the gas...Works great in the tight stuff. Bog is only evident on open trail or when on the street when I get a chance to open it up.

Default 2003 ec250

In North Central WI.

Bike year & model = 2003 EC250
Temperature (degF) = 50-85
Elevation (feet) = 800ish
Main jet = 182
Pilot jet = 40
Needle & notch = JD Blue, 1 down from top (#4?)
Air screw setting = 2-1/2
Throttle valve/slide = #5

Results:
Runs clean all through range, doesn't have a big hit, just lots of good clean power. Idle is a little rough, depending on temp.

Having finally sorted my carb problems (leaking jet block - see my other posts) I now have two set ups that work well

Bike year & model = 2005 250 EC
Temperature (degF) = 5-25 'C
Elevation (feet) = sealevel + 1000ft
Main jet = 180
Pilot jet = 40
Needle & notch = DDK - 4.
Air screw setting = 2
Throttle valve/slide = stock #7

This is my favorite setting, Needle #3 to lean - idle hangs a little after technical stuff, but clip 4 is perfect. Hit is smooth and really easy to control in tech stuff & slippy conditions. Fuel consumption also very good.

Bike year & model = 2005 250 EC
Temperature (degF) = 5-25 'C
Elevation (feet) = sealevel + 1000ft
Main jet = 185
Pilot jet = 40
Needle & notch = JD blue - 3.
Air screw setting = 2.5
Throttle valve/slide = stock #7

This is much harder hitting - wheelies are almost too easy, strong power everywhere. Spluttery low throttle in the tech stuff and feels to rich. Throttle response is however great. Next time I ride a mx track or enduro I would try this set up. Much heavier on fuel compared to the 1st set up.

Bike year & model = 2011 EC300E fitted with 36mm x 39mm oval bore modified Keihin PWK ASII carb and reed block spacer and fitted with modified head (squish - 1.28mm, compression ratio - 12.7:1)
Temperature (degC) = 14 - 18 degC,
65% - 80% humidity
Elevation (feet) = 1000f, or 100 - 300m.
Main jet = 175
Pilot jet = 45
Needle & notch =JD Red #2
Air screw setting = 1.25 turn out
Throttle valve/slide = 6.5 notched

Results:
Good torquey power though as the day got on and the temp dropped it became a bit flat off the bottom, despite having a 45 pilot in there. Once on the needle it felt good, had good strong power throughout the rev range, though felt rich from 1/8 throttle onwards. A user friendly and forgiving needle for tight single track, only downside as mentioned is the lack of torque off the bottom (it still has oodles of torque, just required a bit more clutch to smooth it out).
Also the fuel economy as is normal with my bike for some reason is poo.
9.8l used for 83k's.

starts 1st kick when warm, cold takes max 3 kicks.
absolutely pleased with this setup.
no head mods have been done (yet) just might use a thinner base gasket to up compression a bit next time if i shoud (ever) swop piston

EDIT : so now i've put a new piston in it ,and left the base gasket OUT (more compression, better squish from 1.82mm to 1.32), i used permatex (liquid gasket).
after some rides (0-5 degr Celcius) it felt too rich off idle, so i swapped the 45PJ for a 42 and that seemed to make a huge difference. much more crisp engine response thrueout the revs!

RE-EDIT : since it got a little warmer, about 10-15 deg Celcius, i put an even smaller PJ in, went to 40.
yet even better idling.
just have quite some spooge, does this mean i'm either running too rich on the main (180) or i'm not revving it enough (no need to for what i do).
might try 178 MJ...
any thoughts on the spooge?

This thread is a database for others to view people's jetting setups so discussion doesn't really take place here. There are plenty of threads re spooge and what it means but essentially it just indicates your oil of choice isn't reaching its flash point and burning off prior to escaping via the exhaust port. Could be due to running rich could just be that you're a lugger using less then half throttle all the time could be you're using a race type 2 stroke oil with a high flash point which you'll never reach trail riding.

For more discussion start a new thread or search for precious ones there are heaps.

Started with the following from PO, supposedly jetted to 5k' ft.

2011 ec300e
PWK 38
60-90F
Where I have ridden is 6-11k' ft
180 main
40 PJ
N3EH needle, middle clip
#7 slide
As my first modern 2t I was quite surprised at the instant, abrupt power. Against everything I had read , it was difficult to crawl up steep tech sections without spinning out and was easy to stall. 2nd gear was tough to use at slow speed. pulled the plug and the electrode was black, and had a oily film coating to it.

My new carb set up as suggested by Motoadventure, local Gas Gas dealer.
168 main
38 PJ
N3CH needle middle clip
#7 slide
installed new plug.
I rode Lefthand Canyon today and noticed a world of difference! 2nd gear was awesome in slower tech sections and stalled a lot less. The light switch power was muted to a much more useable power.
I have not touched the air screw yet, but may play with it for fine tuning. I was also thinking of dropping the needle one clip to see if it helps

I just got my '05 EC300 couple months ago, in really good condition, and am in the process of finding out its characteristics. Finding it a little boggy off the bottom. So today I finally hade time to pull the carb and check out what the set-up was.
I ride at 3500 to 6600 feet. I found a 178 main, a 48 pilot, and unknown ID on the needle (stock maybe?). I'm guessing this is a lot rich for my conditions! Will update as I tinker more with it......comments welcome!

2013 300r AS2
178m 42 pilot AS 1.5 turns out.
Yamaha N3CJ clip 3.
Standard BR8 plug and 50:1 Motul 800.
Generally 15 - 20 celcius @ ~320m.

My bike is a 2013 300r in Australia with about 5hrs on it and this setup is fantastic, heaps of power and leaves the plug golden brown.

Bike year & model = 2013 EC300R with the new cylinder arrangement 38mm AS2 east coast australia 98 fuel.
Temperature (degC) = 10 to 30 tested at 18
Elevation (feet) = 500 to 800'
Main jet = 175
Pilot jet = 40
Needle & notch = NEDW 2 from top
Air screw setting = 2.25turns out
Throttle valve/slide = 7
Pre-mix 33:1 maxima super m

I went to this jetting coz the n3 needle is great fun but at a bit of a cost, as I got used to the bike and tried to put the heat on the mate I generally ride with up at cessnock, what i needed was a more jd setup that was 'no alarms and no surprises'. The jd red i started with was a meek versionof e n3. I wanted better, dare I say it, ktm ish delivery.

I could never make a NEDW work on my previous bike, with a 36mm carb/6.5 Notched slide it just didn't work ( insert n green experience here). But with the 13 barrel and 38mm as 2 , the NEDW works great in a greasy/grippy cessnock ..the bike has just as much bottom as the n3, but a more linear delivery, with less runaway onto the pipe, you can truly dial in power with the ne suzuk needles, something I got close to with the j blue needle on my 2011, but I've GOT on my 2013 with the ne needle: that twist/rate and power relationship that's quite 4t, with all the fun noise and etc that mmakes 2ts 2ts.

Edit: it's a bit fluffy right off the bat so I'm going to try nedj with everything else the same.
