Question Alpinestar Tech 10's vs. Sidi Crossfire?

Okay who has had both kinds of boots and which was better? I am torn on what to buy. I have heard great things about both but also bad things about both also.

I have Oxtar's now and it is time for some new boots.

I haven't owned either, but a boot manufacturer that puts buckles on backwards isn't taking the offroad world too seriously.

FWIW, I'm getting the Crossfires in the near future.

Crossfires for sure. Alpinestars quality control has gone downhill in the last 5 years.

The Crossfires are a hell of a boot. Very comfortable and all the little breaky parts are replaceable.

Get the Crossfire SRS and you can wear them with a business suit - like dress shoes.

I have used Tech 8's, Oxtar TCX Pros and Sidi Crossfires w/regular soles.

I weigh 270 lb geared up ready to ride and my boots typically last about a year and half before they are either in need of major repair or are unrepairable. I have found repair to be short lived in most cases.

The Crossfire durability is better than Oxtar and far better than the Tech 8's.

The Sidi Crossfires are exceptional. They are comfortable and offer a good range of motion. They protect my feet and ankles from encouters with rocks, stumps, etc far better than the Tech 8's or Oxtars. I have taken a number of hits with the Crossfires where I was expecting notable pain/ injury, and my foot came away unhurt. The buckles are excellent.

The Crossfires are the only MC boots I have ever worn that are truly waterproof. I can wade around in water for an extended time and my feet stay dry. The waterproofing only goes to to the top of the gaiter, but it really works.

I tried on a pair of Tech 10's. The ankle support was very uncomfortable.

Thnaks for the feed back guys. The only bad thing I hear about the Sidi's is that they snag on the plastics of the bike.

I ride with 3 guys that love their Crossfires.
I like my Oxtar TCX Pros fine but the Crossfire is a nicer boot.
What about the SG-10s ? I've heard great reviews on those too.
Let me know if you part out your Oxtars. lol. I keep losing buckle straps.

I have the sidi force srs which is the predecessor to the crossfire. The one thing i have had to do is use loctite on alot of parts. the boots are very adjustable but that means screws that vibrate loose etc etc. I've lost a couple of screws and part of the buckle mechanism. The other problem is if you have small feet (size 8) your kind of out of luck. They make 7.5 and 8.5 but no 8??? wtf. I managed to get into the 7.5 but its tight. One nice thing is the boots are not bulky and they do provide great protection. Just don't forget the loctite!!

They are size 12. I will send them to you when I purchase another pair.

I've owned Sidi's for years along with Astar boots and like the Sidis from a safety and comfort standpoint. My only bitch is that I wear the pivot point out rapidly and end up having to purchase new uppers once a year, but at least they're replaceable. This brings up another question(insert hijack): I've noticed on the newer bikes(mine is an 04) that they have black frame protectors. Do they bolt right on to an '04, because I think that might help cure the problem.

The protectors are plastic and zip ty on. If the frames are close or the same it might work on your 04.
