No, just the line from the right side of the cylinder, top of PV chamber, which doubles as a trans vent. The other side is a PV drain and has no path to the trans.

Well I changed the water pump seal this winter ... rode an indoor mx track about 2 wks ago and ..... milky tranny fluid. So the water is obviously coming from the inside the motor. Interestingly when I checked it after some riding it was nice an clean, but at the end of the ride it was milky. I probably only did about 20 laps though. checked the rad fluid level and it was just at the top of the core. It was halfway or more to the top of the radiator cap when I started. So my options are ...
i screwed up the water pump seal install and its still leaking there. The head o rings or base gasket are leaking What are the other possiblities?? right now I plan to pull the head and jug and take a look. Hopefully I'll find something obvious. I checked the torque on all the head and cylinder bolts and nothing loosened up. What could you do wrong to screw up the water pump seal install?? I don't remember the install as being terribly difficult or eventful? |

Just in my experiance I have found that if you have a leaking head O-ring you will have white smoke from the exhaust pipe or it leaking down the cylinder if it was the outter O-ring.
There could just be water still trapt in the engine. I know it ushally takes about 3 or so times before it cleans out all the water completly from oil changes. What was the level of coolant when cold?

Side cover gasket, two coolant passages pass through there to the pump.

BTW do you guys have the left vent hose cut open? It was delivered from factory zip tied, but I read somewhere that this is not supposed to be like that. |

I found the answer to my problem.
Just before the Classic this weekend I tightened the breather nipple on the right power valve cavity and the nipple on the left power valve cavity. After the end of the ride Sat. my oil still looked great. That is the only thing I did since my last ride, which ended up with water in the oil. I recommend that you check these to make sure that they didn't loosen up.

I'm still having issues ...I did the same ride eff did and rode both days. I'll check those breather tubes but I know hte right side was tight because I pulled the head last week to check the orings which were fine. I measured the rad fluid height saturday night and put in fresh rottella t. i rode 105 miles sunday and the oil looked milky but the rad fluid height was the same. I'm starting to wonder if maybe the rottella t changes to a gray color instead of black?? I'll check the left side vent tube but ... there was no water on that indoor mx track i rode back in march. still not out of the woods yet ...

Just a thought, since it sounds like you have covered all bases. Have the tranny oil tested for water? Not sure what the cost would be, then you will know for sure.
