The tariff is applied to the value for duty (VFD) of the imported goods. The VFD is the importer's cost from the vendor, not the retail price when the goods are sold. Assume a bike has a retail price of $10k and the importer's cost is $8K. The 100% duty rate would add $8K to the importer's cost, meaning the importer's net cost to import the goods (excluding other taxes and fees) would be $16K.

I have bought a fair amount of spares and accessories from the USA OVER THE YEARS so it will have a small impact on my riding as well

Hopefully you helped educate him a bit. Not to turn this into a war of what engine type is better but it seems the companies that would be hurt the most are the only ones putting out viable two stroke option outside of Yamaha. The lower buy in costs and maintenance costs (for me) are a big part of why I am still messing around with this activity at 46. Many good reasons to sign this petition even if it doesn't affect one directly.

I agree. Ive been a little disappointed in some responses from people. I just think this is wrong whether you ride dirt bikes or not. Everyone should take an interest in this.

So has anyone heard anything about the Tariff that would change our life . At least mine since I like new bikes and the Gasgas is made in Spain .

Thank you Rod if you are getting the feeling that this will come out ok then the rest of us should be reassured . We have very little to loose so hopefully the powers to be will take care of us and do the rite thing .
