I own a 13 gas gas and a 14 linkage ktm that 18 GG looks like a mix of the pair. I'm not convinced enough to buy one yet. Need to see it in the metal

Funny you say that because this is the first bike since 2013 when Beta gave us the 300rr that has got me excited. A mix of GasGas and KTM with kyb suspension! It like the woods riding Gods have spoken. BTW I own a 13 Beta and I would also say it's KTMish but it really is a great bike.

I would definitely get a KYB suspended gas gas. My 2011 has been anvil reliable. The total cost of ownership for the motorcycle has only included consumables. Unfortunately I am not an earlier adopter. I bought the 2011 because it was the end of a long development cycle before the 2012. I like evolution not revolution. I am not too concerned about weight. I like to buy the model year that only gets bold new graphics. So I would definitely get a gas gas but it might not happen until calendar year 2019 and some of the dust has settled on the new format.

Are you looking to buy out of the crate new or new-to-you? I've been looking for a 1,2 or 3 year old bike, but they're very difficult to find. Second hand betas in particular are normally gone within a few hours. I might go the 250cc 4t route (300cc stroker bit much for me really) or even keep my elderly gasser going for a few more years and see what comes up on the 2 stroke scene. Interesting times with the new gassers, ktm announcing transfer port injection for 2018 and the betas getting better and better every year.

Brand new, keep for about 3 years and get another. Sold my 2013 gas gas through word of mouth in 1 day, who said they are not in demand in the UK? No way I would buy the new injection ktm in its first year, I wouldn't buy any brand new bike in its first year that includes this new gas gas.

Looks like boom time for dealerships at the moment, I guess fueled by cheap credit.
