Broken Water Pump Impeller
A guy I ride with was having weird overheating problems.
When we saw coolant in the trans oil I know it was time to tear it down, and as stated the impeller was split in half. He did order a aluminum one to replace the plastic one. I don't see an advantage to using a plastic one except cost savings, if you want to build a better bike their are some areas that you just don't cut corners. I just wanted to post this so it may help others with over heating issues. The good news is we also did a top end (same time) at 127 hours and everything looked great except the reeds were chipped at the edges. |

I have a 08 and I was wondering if gasgas is still using plastic impellars with the newer bikes ?

As far as I know - GasGas no longer uses a phenolic (plastic-like) impeller - it is alloy. I believe the '08 would have the newer impeller.

I would check, there was a period in time when anything was possible. Some pre '07 bikes had alloy impellers and my '07 to my surprise had a plastic one.

Wow , THey really are all over the place with stuff aren't they.
Is there a gasket that I'll need to have on hand to replace or is it a reusable oring? |
