Kickstart ratchet pinion and kickstart spring alignment for tension question
Hi y'all, I'd really appreciate some advice on this. I am replacing the kickstart ratchet pinion and kickstart spring on my 2002 EC 300. I have a question on kickstart ratchet pinion and kickstart spring alignment to get the proper tension from kickstart spring. Can someone tell me the placement of the kickstart ratchet pinion when placing the ratchet lever between the plate and the case and the kickstart spring should be to start in relation to the location of the spring arm starting location? I put a picture of how the spring was when it was pulled free from the hole and it was at rest free. Is this the position it should when the kickstart ratchet pinion lever is between the plate and the case?

Normally with the ratchet arm turned clockwise against its stopper it is about half to a quarter of a turn to pull the return spring around to its hole.
Most manufacturers have an alignment mark but for some reason Gasgas thought they could save some weight...! You will know if you have too little or too much tension on the return spring.

And for reference, this is where I set the spring at rest. Took some effort to bring it right around but the kicker recoils all the way as expected.
