Default Ranger Ec300 Jetting

Hi all, newbie here, just bought a 2019 Ranger, fantastic bike but,
Id like some info on jetting?
Bike is standard, after running in for 400miles.
Main jet 160
Pilot 35
As 1.0
PWK 36 CARB
Needle has been changed to a NEDW, clip 2.
Much better idle to 1/4 throttle opening but it seems to lack a bit up top compared to the stock N1EF needle which was also on clip 2.
The stock needle was really spluttering at small/ part throttle, not smooth at all like my old 4 stroke 250.
Tried a 165 main tonight, and it was missing at wot?
Photo is from a ride on Sunday covering 50 miles of trials and lanes, with new NGK plug, last photo is from stock set-up with a Nippon plug.
I also have an NEDG needle to try?
Any ideas where to start guys? TIA
Sea level, North Devon UK.
Cheers Mark

Default EC Ranger Jetting

Hi Mark,
Did you get an answer for your jetting question?
I have an EC Ranger and was advised by the UK importer to set my carb up as follows:

Main: 160
Pilot: 35
Slide 7
Needle:NOZE
Clip: middle

I am about to try this combo (change needle) this weekend, so if you are interested i can let you know how it feels.

I reckon you will be able to go a lot leaner and cleaner than a 42 pilot, most 300s with the bigger 38 don?t need that big. I just jetted a 300 with a 36mm and it is running a 35 pilot with a NECJ needle. Just an FYI.

I just jetted the pilot for best throttle response. If i go any leaner with the air screw i get a bog...

She run well at light throttle with almost no four stroking

Update, after months of messing around i arrived at NEDH, clip 2, genuine 155 MJ, and a non genuine 42 PJ.
Have just bought a genuine 42 and 40 PJ, and a 158MJ, but due to lock down I can't test them.
Pulls clean all the way through In 6th gear no problem.
Slight burble at 1/8th throttle.
Cheers Mark

That jetting should be very close to perfect. Have you lowered the float height? Where is the air screw set at now?

Update no3, finally got out yesterday for a ride, with the lads, fitted genuine 42 pilot jet and 158 mains.
Wow, bike pulls from nothing in third now, with the 42 PJ, and really makes up for my crap riding abilities!
158 MJ ,still too rich, breaking up at wot.
Went back to 155mj,.
Pulls all the way through rev range in 6th no problem.
Still slight burble at 1/8 throttle, but I can ride round it.
Genuine 40 pilot jet, was less burble, but wouldn't pull aswell.
AS is 1 3/4 -2turns out.
NEDH #2
Obviously hasn't got the top end of my mates ktms 300, but its good smooth torque which suits my low skill level.
Really pleased.
Cheers Westy.
