Default Etched Needle

I just broke down and ordered a JD jetting kit for my 2011 EC 300. The red needle has fine little etch marks in the mid and tip of the needle. I called and spoke to a lady at JD jetting and said that was within normal limits for the needles. She stated that it would not change it's function. I figured I would ask you all. Would fine etch marks change the function of a carb needle? I have never seen any marks in a needle before.

Thanks.

I would say she's right.I've never seen etch marks on any needle and doubt that they will effect performance. They shouldn't been sent out though, imo.
