Default GasGas engine maintenance schedule...

Hi

At what hours do GasGas suggest to rebuild your engine? Presume different hours for rings and full top end .

Depends on how you ride, if you dust your engine, drown your bike etc etc etc..

Some people swear by doing the piston and rings as a package every 60-70hrs. Others will do a set of rings around 50hrs, and then a full piston at 100hrs. There are pleanty who do 100hrs on a set of rings.

I pulled down my 2010 at 65hrs for a fresh piston and rings. Below are pictures of what I found.

Make what you want of it.

I don't even bother with rings. I do a full top end between 75-100 hrs mixed riding and racing on a 250, B level. Whenever I do mine the rings are well withen spec. Piston looks good too, its just the fatigue factor to consider. I know 300s that have gone years without being opened up. Just do compression checks, keep the filter clean, good oil in both mix and trans.

Do it all at the same time, as long as you run good oil.

Yep! Its easier to do as one job as you have everything stripped down to where it has to be anyway.
