Front wheel spacers question...

Hi all, just looking at the front wheel axle spacers on my 2004 EC300.

Both spacers look identical, 23mm wide with one straight end and one flared end.

1. Is that correct, they're both the same?

2. The flared ends of the spacers must be on the outside and the straight ends slide inside the seals, that's right isn't it?

OEM part numbers are the same for both right and left. So, should be identical.

Thanks, I guess I should have looked at the part numbers myself!

What about the flared ends? Surely they should be on the outside?

Yes, flared ends out. I believe the flared end is to stop the ingress of dirt.

Actually the flared ends go in to the seal. Their purpose is that they do not fall out when you remove the wheel. They are a good idea but everyone seems to put them in backwards! 😂

Yep, that is the correct way to put them in. My bike came with both installed in wrong direction and it was the same on my mates bike.

That's the way they were installed when I got my bike (flared end into the seal) but I didn't think it looked right.

It is nice not to have spacers falling out!

You'd think the flare sitting behind the seal lip would also aid with keeping any chunks of debris away from the bearing.. you'd think..

I have always ran both in the same direction.. One in, one out.. Just because.
