Extra bearing in linkage kit?

This morning's quiz:
2001 xc300
My All Balls linkage kit (27-1118) seems to have one extra bearing in it.

Which of the following is true?:
- I'm missing some obvious spot that I forgot on the bike.
- The extra bearing is in there so the kit will fit models other than mine. I see quads on the list.
- Or, it seems like there is just enough room to run the bearings 3-wide in the linkage. It would be tight, but I think they'd fit.

Were later models delivered with three bearings in the fat part of the linkage?

Where is the dunce cap smilie?

I used simple math, the first thing you learn in math. I counted.

Evidently three came out last night.
Always count the parts that come out. LOL

yep the higher math will kick your ass every time I thought it was odd until I took mine apart and there were three bearings on one end.
