Default Fuel lines and connector

So I have a 2002 400 SM that has the original fuel line design, meaning it has two lines coming out of the pump going to the throttle body.

I've noticed that the newer bikes have a single line and a different connection.

So the real question is that if anyone knows if this will cause an issue with my bike?

The other question is, does anyone have an alternative to paying a ridiculous amount of money for the "John Guest connectors" on the fuel pump? I'm not paying over $60 to AOMC for the connectors.
