A couple of questions
I have stripped down my engine for the first time and just in time it appears All is ok though!
Question one:- Looking at after market cylinder heads they don't list for the EC 200. Only 250/300. Why and will they work/fit? Question two:- Gaskets! I have an Athena gasket set and want to know do I just fit them all or can I skip one on the base? As you can tell I'm after a little more performance and zing! Your advice and valuable knowledge greatly appreciated! Any ideas would be great whilst it's all a pile of bits!

There had been a brief discussion on using the 250 cylinder making it a 225
Im sure there would be some modifications needed. I haven't looked into this. Or contact S-3 and see if they would build a few.? Jakobi will tell us. |

I don't know anything..
The S3 outer head might bolt up to the cylinder, but you'd definitely need a custom insert machined for the 200 bore. This costs time and dollars - which would be better spent having your stock head milled to perfect specs. Base gaskets determine the port timing, as well as having an effect on overall compression ratio. Have a look where the piston sat in relation to the cylinder with the old stack. Adding more gaskets to get the edge of the piston flush with the bottom of the exhuast port at bdc will give the best top end efficiency, but having the piston sit a little above will likely give a more linear power curve. Use your new gaskets to set the cylinder height where you want it. Then snug it down and measure the squish on the head. I'd have a tuner take 3 x squish samples and machine the head to be around 1mm squish and a CR which will still let the engine rev freely. Too much involved in doing a hybrid build, either over boring and recoating, or machining down a 250 barrel, which will take more measuring re port timing, and likey require a recoat when all is done aswell. |

From there e-mail it sounds like replating the existing cylinder. I don't think they produce a 200 cylinder.There were no mention of cost's,pricy for sure. S-3 is located in Girona Spain.

Thanks for all of your replies guys. I have it stripped and I'm cleaning it up, You can see your face in the cylinder head! Working on the exhaust port at the moment then on to the transfer ports! Once all of this is done I will bolt it all down and set the squish!
How do you torque the barrel and head?
