Slipper clutch or not?
How do I tell if my 06 fse450 has the slipper clutch without pulling the cover? Manual is next to useless along with the parts manual. I may want to go with a Rekluse at a later date so it would be good to know.

If you wanted to try it while riding but not be hard on your engine, ride up to third gear on dirt, then pull your clutch in and downshift to first, let your clutch out slowly, if your rpm's start to rise into very high revs then immediately pull your clutch in, you have a normal clutch. If when you slowly let your clutch out and your rpm's don't go above mid range then it's a slipper clutch. In that case you can be in third gear, pull in your clutch, downshift to first and just dump the clutch out. The rpm's won't go above mid range. It's exceptionally fun when your approaching a slow turn and dump the clutch in a low gear, no high revs or wheel hop, just dive in and punch it.

If you have engine braking like a twostroke, it's a slipper.

Thanks for the responses....was hoping for something more conclusive like a digit in the vin number. A bit much to expect I suppose. Will try the engine braking test on tomorrow's weekly ride. This will be the 3rd time out on it and I haven't noticed anything different over a normal clutch so far.

The clutch lever will feel so light you will think something is wrong if you have a slipper.

Yeah, that too, it's got 3 springs instead of 6.

It actually has six springs, its just that the springs fight each other until power is applied.

OK smarty pants... just not your typical 6 springs... . when you take the cover off, you see 3 springs. I was trying not to get into to much detail.

Yip, sometimes to much detail causes problems.

Rekluse clutch?
I have an 07 -300ec. I decided to put a rekluse clutch in it and was told that Rekluse does not make the Pro model for this bike- is this correct? Will the clutch for another bike fit it? I have been told not to waste my money on the cheaper model. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
