Which used forks do I have?
I brought a1999 gasgas ec250 last year with conventional forks but the guy I brought it off gave me some usd forks which he said where off newer gasgas.
Is it possible to work out if they are off and gasgas and what year they are? My final question is how easy is it to change and is it worth it bearing in mind I'm new to offloading? Thanks |

Which used forks do I have?
If the Fork is from a newer GG there are different Typs:
WP 43mm Marzocchi 45mm Marzocchi 48mm Sachs 48mm Ohlins 46mm These are the from GG Used forks. With the right triple clamp you can Mount them all in your Old Frame. Gesendet mit meinem Apfelfon using Tapatalk 2

Great, the forks came with the triple clamp, so will it be a straight fit

Depends.....if your 99 had Brembo front brakes and newer forks had Nissan, you will need to convert to Nissan.

If you have the trip. it will bolt up you will most likely have an issue with the axle. You will more than likely need to find an axle for that stile of fork(post a pix and someone can tell you which ones you have) you probably need to change front bearings and inner spacer. All very ease to o and worth the time.

Thanks for the advice, the forks came with a wheel and spindle but no brake caliper. I will take a photo and post ASAP. Thank you

why would you want to swap these out?
i'd start riding as is, then see if you think you miss something USD can offer. i wouldn't do it just for the looks. conventional forks can work just as good as USD... if your USD forks are WP43mm (like mine) i'd be more the happy to swap them for your conventionals just saying... ciao, Hannes. |

Post a picture and yes the older conventionals can be made to work well.. but that said.. unless they are the 50mm zokes they are no where near what even basic 43 UDS wp forks are capable of. I have had both. I have a 98(somewhere in the garage) and it will be fully converted to modern forks eventually. The 45 conv zokes flex way to much and have lots of minor issues. It is a good learning platform to learn the basics of fork tuning on. The conventional forks that came on some of the suzukis were really great. They can be fitted on a GG but so can a modern YZ set of SSS forks.. If you already have them its worth your time..

I have taken a photo of the forks so I hope this helps identify which ones they are. I also noticed that the fork seals are leaking as well so that will need sorting
