i've replaced the plug and terminals on the cdi and stator its still not got a spark so i am thinking it has to be the cdi gone down. where can i get a new one as it looks like the cdi for the 2014 e start bikes is different to other years and i can't find one anywhere, can i use one off of the later bikes or a different make?

So have you got voltage being produced by the stator? Are they the same stator as early (ktm type 2k2 stator) bikes? These are known to fail and would suspect this before cdi failure.

I agree ☝️ I have maybe seen 5 faulty Cdi?s in 20 years of being a mechanic. And thousands of stators. People are always quick to blame the black box because it is hard to test. Get yourself a peak voltage meter and check the output of the stator first.
Have you checked all the earths etc?

the stator has nothing to do with the spark on the 2014 e start bikes according to the wiring diagram it just goes to the regulator and the trigger goes to the cdi the second winding goes nowhere just an empty plug. the earths and basics was the first thing i checked also being a 20+ year mechanic.

Still has a pick up coil.

For what it is worth if the cdi is actually dead you should be able to purchase a stator powered one and wire that up instead.
Is there any voltage going to the coil? I assume you have measured the voltage coming out of the cdi?

I am only getting 3 volts max out of cdi to the coil, I've just had an email from my dealer to say the 2014 cdi isn't available anymore but they can get a 2015 one but have no idea if it'll work.

Do I just need the stator and cdi off of any of the earlier ec300's?

I am pretty sure the stators are identical, like you said the source coil is not used and they are battery powered instead. You can check that easily with a peak volt meter. The pick up/crank sensor should be around 5vac and the source/exciter coil should be at least 100 vac.

I am pretty sure the plugs for the cdis are the same so with a little rewiring you should be sweet. Check the pin outs on the diagrams to confirm connections.
It is a massive pity those diagrams that were in the Gasgas technical information website were deleted by the overlords at Ktm.
You may even be able to source an aftermarket cdi.

The toggle (in place of the key) would just supply a 12v input from the battery to the CDI to "awaken" the CDI.It does sound a bit obvious but is there 12v (battery voltage ) on the toggle sw and does it get to the CDI .You will have to look at wiring diagram to check which pin it is .Easy to check with meter

i have 12v from the switch i think i've checked every wire about 1000 times and i've removed the switch completely and made a bypass plug to rule that out.

the wiring diagram shows on the cdi plug inputs from the pickup coil as wire 55 pickup- and 56 pickup/stop, i have 111ohms with the ignition on nothing with the ignition off on 55 and continuity to earth at 56 with igntion on and no continuity with the ignition off which i am assuming is correct.

i am still thinking its the cdi if thats correct.

this bike is very close to getting a can of petrol and a match.
