Spark arrestor question
Picking up my new baby ('15 300) tomorrow, but I have to ask.
I figured most all of those riding gasgas enduros would be riding on public, BLM, USFS, and state OHV areas vs closed course motocross tracks, although I may be wrong. So why would the powers that be choose to put a non-spark arrestor silencer on all the new 300's? Is that fairly standard on new off-road bikes? I guess I am going to have to do some mods before I can start to break her in Thanks, Rob Holloman AFB, NM |

I think it's odd too. I know that the early bikes that were stripped of their EC equipment and made into XC models were fitted with FMF pipes and silencers with the arrestor for the US market. Something to do with emissions at the time.
I assume it's because they're meant for closed course racing and are equipped with that in mind. That and the US as far as I know is the only country that requires a spark arrestor on public land - so maybe not worth it to them. |

Managed forests require them here in Canada.
