07 200 to 05 conversion
I am thinking about buying a 07 200 and changing the top end to a 250 05 I have lying around.
Anyone tried this yet, or have any ideas? I don't think there will be any issues, but the PV may be different? |

No Go, the cases are different. Only the 250/300 convert eaisly. You can swap entire motors though, that would be easy. Only detail would be the CDI as the early '05s used the older style.

Thanks for the info, I presume all the mounting bolts line up in the frame?
CDI shouldn't be a problem, I'll just change it over with the motor? |

Yes, the '05 and '07 frames are the same. You would want to keep the CDIs with the motors, but the late '05+ CDIs mount different and use a different connector system in the harness. If both CDIs mount inside the airboxs, your good to go. BTW, the '05 would then be the dual map CDI.

Thanks GMP, I hope the work will be worth while. The 07 felt a little more nimble than the 05/06, so I will have a good package for harescrambles.
If I am correct the 07 had Marzoks, I'm thinking about changing over the Ollins from the 05 at the same time as motors. |

Just been thinking about it, if the 05/06/07 frames were the same, what were the changes besides the subframe, seat and plastics? I'm starting to wonder if buying the 07 is a worth while project?
