Shotgun is a great place to ride......you guys in the PNW are very fortunate to have such epic singletrack!

Yep! I was born and raised in Southern California and the high desert riding used to be great. Now you have to travel hours to be able to ride in a fish bowl with 100 bikes, quads and sand rails. So I feel your pain

I have also lived down in So.Cal and rode the dez, which was pretty much the only place to ride. Now being in Nor.Cal we have some decent places, however the greenies are advancing a rapid pace taking away the land of the people for the people...very quickly!

Yep Jakobi that is how I have heard the engine characteristic described also. which is fine by me as that smooth is fast style is totally me. On a 300 if you ride it on the pipe you'd be wore out in a hurry. The area I will be riding allot is also very greasy clay if its at all wet. It is very tight and technical. That's is a part of the reason I've stayed with Gas Gas' for so long. They work well in the gnarr as well as the open. FMF has a pipe to help the top end on the Sherco 250 already. It won't be long before they have the 300 pipe also.

Yep GasGas, the 250s are already here in the states. Anyhow Congrats on the new bike, new bikes rule! And good luck with your switch!

Rick truthfully probably won't be able to make a June date. Busy month this year with races and I am trail bossing a new event this year on our clubs property. but lets not rule it out yet. Lets revisit the idea as it gets a bit closer. Ha Ha! yeah I remember Mike took us on all the good stuff, the stuff only the dedicated local would know about at shotgun.

I had a trip to California some years back and had a great time down at Jawbone, Dove Springs, and a couple other areas, don't remember all the names but in the south. Then rode Stoney Ford on my way back home. You have some good riding down there.

Not a truer word spoken Roscoe. You nailed the reason why I opt for the 250 over the 300s so perfectly. The extra 50cc wore me out every time I'd try and burst it onto song. The Sherco also governs the powervalve and timing when you map it to wet mode so I imagine it will be a super tractor when you want it to with no hidden surprises and a seemless powerband much like a trials bike. It'll no doubt be smooth and fast, but might just lack a bit of that raw 2T feel. I guess thats progress and evolution!

Wanted to let you know my plans didn't go as I had envisioned.

After nearly 2 months of waiting for my Sherco to arrive. I got word it would be at least another month before a Sherco would land on US soil with my name on it. A mix up in communication with the Sherco factory would make the wait just too long for me.

So now I had a tough decision, what to do. I had already sold my Gas Gas and was tired of riding my wifes WR 250. And the season is starting.

Clay immediately offered to send me a Gas Gas 300 in it's place, I really appreciated that. But I was still in the I want to make a change mindset and looked at my options for what is available.

Luck have it, a friend who is a local motorcycle dealer also had the right bike in stock and at the right price.

So to make a long story shorter I wont be able to write a review on the Sherco SE 300. But will be glad to give you my thoughts on my new Beta RR 300 Racing Edition. Here is a pic of it below from a couple nights ago at the NMA Racing Series Awards banquet.

Yep what I ride has changed. But believe me I'm still a Gas Gas fan and I'll still be putting on those NW Gas Gas rides. I'll call the ride an exotics ride now and post the invites on multiple sites for exotic enthusiasts. So keep your eyes on the regional section of the forum.

See ya out there.
Roscoe

"But if they get any more main stream you may have to go back to a Gas Gas or Sherco to come along."
You're no longer helping on Beta not becoming mainstream now are you? But very nice choice, you will love it.

I see the photo, but I'm raising the bar: Ride report or it didn't happen!
I'm especially hoping you can compare it to the previous gen GG (09-11). Thanks and congrats on the new steed!
