if i take a set of 4.0 springs and a 5.0 rear, that is the correct springs for my weight, at least thats what les told me. but would i get away with that ok if the forks and shock are still valved for 180 aggressive? im 165 and amateur. ive been reading around and have seen it said that i should have the valving done at the same time or they wont work right with the different springs. i dont have the money to revalve this season. what should i do? wait till it can all be done at once, or do the springs now and the valving later.

I.M.O those spring rates are to light givin you'll be at 185 to 190 geared up . Try .42, stock fronts and a 5.2 rear spring.
Spring rates are not chosen by rider ability but rather the correct spring rates for your full riding weight including camel bak and tools on your particular bike full of fuel ready to ride.

les did the figuring on 165 nekkid, which is a ballpark guess, (i was 150 last year, but i quit cross country running) and with a hydro pack and tool belt. he said that i could get by with a 4.2 and a 5.2, but that a 4.0 and a 5.0 would be ideal. however. i have decided to just get my seals done, and wait till next season to dial in the suspension. i honestly dont go fast enough or have enough expierence to know exactly what i want done anyways. but thanks for the advice, and if you've got any more for when i do get them done over it would be much appreciated.
