Default Sachs/Reiger/?hlins

Hi,

As there seems to be no straight comparison anywhere around - can anyone point to real-life comparative experience related to usage of Sachs shocks, Ohlins TTX44 and different flavors of Reiger? It seems to me that Sachs shocks are actually pretty well regarded with their high/low speed adjustments etc. Beta riders seem to be happy with them also. So - is there actually REAL reason to prefer Ohlins and Reiger to Sachs?

I've had all three.
Hands down, the Rieger is the best. IMO.

Haven't ridden the Sachs enough to give an opinion but, the Reiger is light years better than the Ohlins in stock trim. The ohlins on my 2011 was just so dang harsh and the longer/harder you rode the worse it got. I had it revalved and it helped some but was still harsh. The Reiger is near perfect for me in stock trim (aside from a fat kid spring).

Can't agree more, in a league with Showa big body, once you set it up and realise that because of the thermostat that it takes a little time to warm up, it's amazing.

As above. I've had multi Ohlins, and the 888 is nothing special. The Sachs can be tuned but have several issues in some models (rebound separator check valve sticking, and piston band clearances causing lack of damping when hot). Both show gains with some work.

The Rieger shock just seems to work as delivered. I haven't been in one for a revalve though.

Had an Ohlins (very basic) on a 2002 gasser- hard to set up,was a click from ok to complete shite. But it is an old model.
2010 Sach- Stock was awful.Once I spent some money & professionally revalved it.It worked pretty good & only occasionally tried to kill me.Seriously, would unexpectedly kick back hard.
2014 Reiger- Extremely happy with it.Better than any WP shocks I have ridden.
Have not ridden a good Ohlins setup.
