Default cutting the mufler

hi all
i have been told that i can cut my stock muffler on my 05 ec250 and rivet the end cap back in with no probs ( in half)
i just wont to do this for asthetics but i was told it will give it a little bit more go, because the long pipe smooths out the power.

???????????????????????????????????????????????

i have all the right tools and am happy to be a guini pig if no one has tried it on the sight.

PS what are some good mods for my bike power wise?

You wouldn't be welcome on any of our rides. That is exactly why we are running out of places to ride. Thanks, my kids really enjoy it when they close down riding areas near us because of that attitude and we have to drive for hours just to get to a riding spot that hasn't been ruined by loud bikes.

Sounds like a real foolish attitude. It's attitudes like that that are closing riding areas all the time.

Thumbs down

On the street thats debateable, but off-road loud for the sake of being loud is stupidity.

I also ride a Harley VRSC, ride every day. Stock pipes with the EFI tweaked richer(proper mixture). Fairly quiet and very fast. In fact, MUCH faster than any obnoxiously loud drag pipe equipped air cooled HD or clone that is all to common. On the street, loud draws bad attention(cops), causes fatigue, and usually costs power and run quality unless the bike is retuned properly. An HID headlight, modulator, and/or additional driving lights are more effective at gaining attention.

Off road, loud is worse. If you truly love to ride, and you've ridden for awhile and saw all the land lost over the years you would never say that.

Loud sucks,,
But if your looking for top end power yes it will work but you will loose most of your low end power. The long silencer? Euro silencer? Where are you located. The fmf s/a will give you more mx type power without being too, too loud. Its more of a diameter than length thing. I'll trade your euro for my fmf if your near Pa. Just a note, my bike in quiet setup, fmf, messico pipe and the dbsnorkel it has the most power. Loud doesnt mean more power.
Later,
Steve

.........silly guys.
Loud DOES mean more power, more power for "the man" to shut down riding areas.

WMD -
Besides making more noise - shortening the silencer will typically shift power lower in the powerband (given the same diameter). Longer silencer enhances top end power whereas a shorter silencer enhances low end response (on a 2 stroke).

As far as getting a "bible study" - When you are advocating an act that will put our riding areas in jeopardy - it's not too surprising that you are catching a bit of flak.
