Default Gifford Pinchot forest Washington slide show

Slide show of my Saturday ride on a beautiful 75 degree day in the Gifford Pinchot National forest of Washington. Enjoy, I know I did!

I do run the stock tank. I heard you let someone demo your bike up there. A husky rider ? Howed he like it?
The 300's mileage suffers a bit in the altitude but it will easily get 55 miles at trail pace and appropriate carb adjustments. I tend to turn off the engine down the long steep grades and coast down to conserve fuel anyways. I also bring a 1 liter platypus brand collapsible jug with fuel to further extend range, and a 70 mile trip is not out of reach.
Race pace is closer to 45 miles a tank.

We only did a 55 mile loop on this day as my hands were tore up from the previous weekends race. I pussed out they were just to sore.

You get your machine at Taskey's? First one? How you liking it.

I'm on my 3rd 300 all bought from Skagit Powersports. 04 06 and the 08 you see in the pics.

Glad to hear some others in the PNW riders are stepping up to Gas Gas machines.

Kelly liked the bike he said with a bit of setup for him he could realy like it. I did buy it from Tasky's and so far I have been enjoying it. It needs some jeting work though it pulled good on the bottom but crapped out up top.I was able to get 48 miles on the stock tank. I am thinking maybe the LTR jet kit. The suspension was a bit harsh but is getting better the more I ride it. I will send forks and shock to LES this winter for springs and revalve.

Good choice! Les will improve the suspension drastically. Anything I can help you with setting it up don't hesitate to ask.

This is what I run with great results. Still has room on the air screw for altitude and temperature adjustments, without turning it out more than 2.5 turns out. Runs crisp and clean, but not to lean.

Bike year & model = 2008 Gas Gas DE 300
Temperature (degF) = 45-85
Elevation (feet) = 250'- 5000'
Main jet = 178
Pilot jet = 35
Needle & notch = N1EF 2nd position
Air screw setting = 1 to 2 turns out depending on temp and elevation
Throttle valve/slide = #7

Make sure you check and adjust your float for the best mileage possible.

Don't hesitate to call Les. He has other methods using his needle etc. They work flawlessly also.

I have those jets lying around but is that needle stock or do I need to buy a new one. Also is it the second clip from the bottom or the top?

Also where should the floats be adjusted to? I did notice gas coming from the overflow tube quit a bit.
