Default FMF Q silencer

I was getting tired of cleaning the screen on my Sparky spark arrestor which is on the end of a stock GG Euro silencer. I read that a ’99-02 KX FMF Q silencer would fit the GasGas, so I bought one off ebay.

The Q silencer is about as long as the stock GasGas Euro silencer (w/o the Sparky) and a few inches longer than the GasGas FMF TC2 silencer.

Fitting the silencer on my ’06 EC300 required the following…

> Trim ~0.2 inches off the end of the stock GasGas pipe.

> Trim ~0.4 inches off the silencer tube where it slides over the pipe.

> Slight trim of the rubber sleeve that fits over the pipe joint.

> Bend the silencer body up a few degrees relative to the silencer pipe to get the mounts to align.

> Bolt into place.

The FMF Q tucks in well and provides adequate tire clearance. It fits pretty well except that the highest point on the silencer just touches the rear fender.

I can’t hear a difference in noise level between the FMF Q and the stock GG Euro silencer with the rest of the engine noise.

As a note, the KX FMF Q would not fit on my ’01 XC300 as it had too much interference with the rear fender.

Not noticeably quieter from my vantage point sitting on the motorcycle. However, when I get the chance I will ask others their perception from a bystander perspective.

Default Q silencer

I put a FMF Q silencer from a KTM 300xcw on mine. Had it brand new left over with other accessories after getting ripped off by a KTM dealer on a "new" 300xcw-got my $ back and had KTM stuff to use. cut off the lead pipe on the stock silencer and welded it to the FMF. Made a spacer for the top bolt. I feel that it is pretty quiet. I let a friend ride around my house and the sound didn't carry and was easy on the ears.

Anybody know if there is a non-GasGas FMF silencer/spark arrester that fits an '01?
