1/8" solder
There have been many of you wanting to do the head mod and have had problems finding 1/8" acid core solder to perform the squish test needed.
There is a national auto parts chain called NAPA. They carry the 1/8" acid core solder, part number 777-1857. Hope this helps. Ron |

As this is very thick solder by electronics standards, I think that most plumbing places carry this as well.

This is why I have tried to make it easy to find and it comes from a national state wide auto parts store chain. It is used in heavy cables and radiator repairs. MOST all solders sold in plumbing stores are lead free and have no core (do not use these). The core is one of the most important aspects in using it for smash testing. DO NOT use solid core and lead free solders PERIOD. Ron |

Any NAPA should be able to get you the solder with the part number. I haven't sent my GG head and carb to Ron yet but his work on my son's 2011 TM 250 is amazing.

I got the proper size from Home Depot.
When I got it back and needed to test the result, I had to go to a smaller size. |

You can also twist a few thinner pieces of solder together. It will achieve the same result. May be easier with a single thick piece though
