Spring rate suggestions please

Hoping you can give me some thought on the correct spring rates for my weight.
Racing a 2006 EC300 with 45 zokes up front (0.42 springs) and an ohlins rear with a 52 rate spring.

I weigh 240 pounds and race on mainly woods / tight technical trails.

Thinking I might need .48 springs up front and a 58 rear. Any thoughts on this?

220 bare, probably 250 geared up. I have .47 on the front and 5.8 on the back, thinking about going 4.8 next time I have the forks off. I have about 1" of fork that is unused on the front (-minus the 13mm) that I lowered. so I would think that you are way undersprung. Mine was bottoming and causing quite a bit of wrist and hand pain before respringing.

I have 2011-300 and I'm 105kg without gear.

Summer: 4.8 front and 5.8 rear which seem to be ok to me!
I ride a lot of sand but rocks also.

For winter I go to 4.2 / 5.2

Owning both bikes with the 48s and the 45s, it seems to me that the 48s just ride higher and seem to act like they are sprung stiffer. My 45s with a range stiffer than my 48s seem softer, and its not just a damping thing. Maybe the .42s in the new Zokes are on the stiff side? I know the .44 springs in the 45s were tested and marked. For faster HS courses I could probably go to .46s in the '07 bike with the .45s, and I'm only 176lbs. So far I have no real complaints about the .42s in the '12. I'll be able to make a better call after a couple of south Jersey sand races in Sept-Oct.

Thanks for all your replies, the above combo seems to be about right, possibly on the light side. My weight does vary a bit 220 to 240 range

Hi.

It's really more of a range because there are many more variables than just your weight... But 0.48 would be a little light most likely- I'd go with at least a 0.50 in the fork, maybe 0.52 would be fine, too. Either way is going to be so much better than the stock 0.42 that it's a little ridiculous. 5.8 or 6.0 in the back would go well with the new fork springs...

Shameless plug: We've got the 0.50 and both a 5.8 and 6.0 in stock for the 45 Zoch and the matching Ohlins 888... But you're in the UK, of course!
