Ec300 2019
Here is what works for me on my 2019 EC300
NEDW needle set at the 2nd for the top 40 Pilot 175 Main Jet Air screw about 2 turns 98 octane fuel Motul 800 at 2% I ride at between sea level and 400 ft, normally quite humid 70% + and it is pretty hot around here all year round at least 25?c. It is early days for me on my new Gasser but with these settings the bike runs very cleanly, almost like it has fuel injection rather than a carb. |

Thanks for sharing your jetting.

Hey Guys, been struggling with jetting ever since I have owned this thing
Bike: 2012 EC300 Mods: None Altitude: 5400-8000 Temp: 35-50 F Pilot: 42 Needle: JD Blue Clip Pos: 2 Main Jet: 170 I have had the JD Red needle at #3 clip for a bit, and could never get the 0-1/4 throttle dialed in. It gurgled at this small throttle opening I always had spooge running down my silencer, and assumed I was way too rich. I put in the JD Blue at #2 which is richer at the 0 to 1/4 opening, and holy cow. WAY more power |

Jetting Database - PLEASE ADD YOUR SETTINGS
180 main 40 pj and necj 2nd clip sea level Didn’t feel lean (actually a bit rich at about 1/4 throttle) but this plug looks a bit lean. Up and down fairly fast stuff but not for extended periods (It was an old plug that had rich jetting previously) Any opinions? ( @jakobi ? ) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Matt,
It's running lean at at least one throttle position which you were using a good bit during the ride. It is entirely possible to run lean in one circuit of the carb, while running rich in another. Normally, it's the wfo top gear runs that do that (turn the plug white), at least on my machines when I do long stretches of gravel road at high speeds. When I was running a bike with a AS1 carb, and the weather was cool, I often ran a 185 main for hare scramble racing. The rest of the carb's settings can be adjusted to work just fine with the 185 main. Happy New Year! Jim .

If it were me, I would start with a brand new plug ang go from there.
The plug pictured has too much history and won't give you a clear picture of what your engine is doing right now. |

Given the taper on the needle, I don't think the 180 main is your lean area... unless if you have an air leak somewhere (stator seal, reed gasket, etc).
I would be looking at the off idle area. J diameter, reasonably lean clip position, reasonably small pilot. Throw in some hills and some high engine loads and you can get things pretty warm. You didn't mention temps, or humidity.. but I would guess low 20's? and pretty moist. Similar conditions here in Australia.. usually a bit warmer, and a bit more elevation and I have found NEC#2 is too lean. I lose power and it's the only time I have boiled over (cutting through waist high grass up a steep incline). NED#2 works a treat.. NEC#3 would probably be alright too. |

Was thinking of throwing in the nedj just to be safe. I did think of doing some proper jetting runs before going out on the trail ride but 6 months without a bike and the two stroke fumes went straight to my head lol.
Still trying to find somewhere to do jetting tests not sure if I’m allowed to burn it up and down the street here? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Matt,
Burning it up and down the street in NZ is likely to attract the fun police. |
