GG front Brake Rotor (Disc) - Wuxi Thai-Racing Trade Co
yeah ok we're talking cheapo Chinese tatt here. But I couldn't find anything locally and my fav GG dealer is actually no longer a GG dealer due to politics with the distributor in NZ. My local GG dealer is 1/2hr drive & they don't even put GGs on the floor as they favour chances of selling a European hi spec roadbike. Not much chance of them having much interest & would end up going through the distributor who is reknown for long waits & high prices.
Nothing on our local equiv of Ebay. rear rotors (discs to us) aplenty, but no fronts. So a quick google turns up this on Aliexpress http://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/6036506968.html $59 US Well heck I'll give it a shot. Personally I wasn't as keen on a swirly pattern but when its covered in mud I'm unlikely to care. Couldn't believe how quick it turned up. Like, a few days to NZ. I doused it in degreaser & then brake clean & it bolted right up with the slight clash with the speedo sensor due to swirly legs. I trimmed a bit off the sensor bracket and pushed it to the side & job jobbed. Fired in some new Goldfren pads. Seems to run straight with no dragging. Yet to ride with it. That should be a couple of weeks away so I'll try to remember to report. |

Not bad.
If my WTB ad doesn't get me a cheap, gently-used pair of rotors, I could give these fronts a try. Do the have rears ? |

Sheesh, click on the 'store' & have a look.
actually I just did and yes they do. $69, but its still cheap. Now bear in mind I haven't run this yet, but they seem to make a bunch of discs for lots of stuff. But that doesn't mean they care if they last. |

Ali express
I was looking around the website.Did anyone else see the Christini? so it would be roughly $3000 shipped. Based on weight, i wonder whats included in that. Sorry for thread jack-Its good to know the rotor looked good. Hopefully the other parts they sell are good. If thats really the whole bike, it seems like a good way to try out AWD. When it brakes, keep whatever spares you need. And sell the rest
And hopefully it works good.

ok well finally got out to ride. First impressions were a bit feeble until it bedded in a bit. To be honest I think it needs some more bedding in. I'm in essence testing the new pads & their interface with the new disc.
I did a couple of 25k loops but 1/2 way through the 2nd got a puncture so that was the last of the hard braking (actually it didn't promote too much hard braking on the terrain). I actually thought I might try resurfacing my old pads as they are wedge shaped from the worn disc and seeing if they work better. The Goldfren pads may just take a while to bed in. So net result is that the brakes work. They work ok it seems, but I like more initial bite & that is lacking. That could be down to the pads so this is a bit of an unscientific test changing two things to two untried things. Disc is still straight & looks in fine condition. I suspect it will be as good as before but I can't endorse wholeheartedly at this stage which is probably not the disc's fault if you see what I mean. There was a ride next weekend but I see its been cancelled, boo. |

Oh yeah thought I'd update this. Disc seems to work fine. Goldfren sintered pads are ok but lack bite which I miss. I'd buy another.

Here's a link to the rear rotor.
It doesn't have the counter-sunk holes like mine. Will they work (with proper bolts)? http://www.aliexpress.com/store/prod...794558039.html |
