House of Horsepower! Quick and dirty pipe review
I came from pretty spot on jetting. This was my setup. 4000ft and up elevation. N3CJ needle 2nd position summer, 3rd position winter 172 Main 40 Pilot #7 Slide High comp and squish cut. Pump gas. FMF gnarly and shortened Q-Stealth. I had RB cut my slide to a #8 and went to the JD red "2 plus 2" needle, as per Richard Wilson's suggestion. I had to go to a 38 pilot but I think I'm still on the 172 main. I can't quite remember. I just spent four days in Moab on the new set up. Slow Rocky technical single track, to wide-open sand washes. The difference.... the new setup is a little softer in the middle than before, but still makes a lot of torque. Honestly, I felt like it was less tiring to ride in the really techy stuff, yet, I can still hold second and third up climbs that I shouldn't be able too. In the sand washes..... this thing is a flat out war machine! It's a rocket ship on top. Much more over rev. I kept thinking it must be lean but if I pulled the choke it would start to instantly blubber. So I think it's good. The only bad thing is that I'm pretty hard on my pipes and it's really painful to put any dents in it. Which I have. Small ones. But dented nonetheless.
