Default Fuel Economy

This seems like a strange thread but I can not belive the fuel economy my de300 gets. I burn about a litre an hour play riding and about 3 litres (or less) per hour racing its about half the fuel of any other bike I have had.

I have had 2 EC250's (2000 & 2007) I have been impressed with both, they both burn approx the same amount. The only thing is the 2000 had a larger tank so seemed to go much further, but really don't think I need it the 2007 will do 2 hours racing and easily has 3L left. I know this depends on the speed of the race but it seems fairly consitant for me anyway.

My '07 gets great milage, much better than my '03 and a little better than my '00. For what I do the stock tank will be fine.

i have own 4 ec300 (-04 , -05 , -06 , -07 ) and i do race with them quite much, about 20+ races /year.

i burn about 5,4 litres / hour fuel with them as average.
(1400 litres /year)
fuel consumption on a healthy ec300 is about 4,5 litres/hour on a average C class rider and about 5 litres on a average B class rider. i race on a A class .

on a very tehnical course my fuel consumption is about 4,5 litres and on a very fast or heavy condition the fuel cnsumption is on a 6 litre/hour region.

3500 litres fuel burned with gasgas ec300 so far.

Before I got my 06 300 I had read about horrible gas mileage and the joke was they named them GasGas as they used twice as much fuel. Maybe in race mode, but for trail riding where you only need a crack of throttle in 2nd-4th to maintain a fairly fast pace, I'm running out of steam well before I run out of fuel with the Clark tank. My first tank of fuel with the stock tank and 180 jetting, I squeeked out 120km with only an ounce or 2 to spare. I've gotten 140km with the Clarke and a 175 main, and had more to go. Still don't know exactly how far I can go with it.
I ride with a bud who has a fairly lean jetted 400exc and he uses 4.5L to my 4L.

i have an 07 and i have the same porblem, i go thru a gallon in approximately 1.5 hours of putting around trails.
i know why though, its not because of being on the throttle, or wrong carb setup, its the damn overflow. if i forget to turn of the petcock, and drive back to my house from where i ride, i will dump almost the whole tank of fuel out that tube. every time i stop after a ride, it pisses out about 10 seconds. some sledders i hang out with say to reroute the line back up the the fuel cap, but if i remember right, this cant work on a gravity fed sytem, because once the level in the return tube and tank are the same, it wont go up the tube any more. plus this seems like asking for a severe flood..

I'd recommend setting your float height correctly if it's spewing fuel all the time.

I get great mileage. I did a 100 mile desert race on two tanks of fuel at full on race pace. In the woods (where I normally race/ride) I get even better mileage since I'm pretty much never above half throttle.

Sprocket or Speedy,

What jetting are you running?

Are you guys running LTR needles? Any overheating or seizing history?

I'm not through testing yet, but my CCK #4 - 42PJ - 178MJ seems a lot thirstier (4-5liter/hour) compared to LTR #4 - 42PJ - 165MJ (1,5-3 liters/hour)

Will try going leaner clips on the needle and go down on the main jet.

Fresh 98 octane RON (race gas at the pump!) with 2% full synth.

I have a 45 pilot, 180 main (spring riding plus new top end so I had it a little rich), LTR '0' needle (I think) in the 3rd clip. 92 octane gas at 40:1.

My bike doesn't overheat but does have some spooge issues. Since it's finally warming up I'm planning on switching to a 178 main and maybe a 42 pilot.

Keep in mind I usually lug the bike instead of riding in the high RPMs since I like things smooth and predictable.
