Default Pulled PV to clean and now RPM REALLY high

Just curious if I could have put the PV in 180 degrees out somehow? I pulled the right side, behind the pipe. When I reinstalled it over the pin inside the head and everything appeared to line up without issue, linkage went on fine, etc.

However, now when I start the engine the RPMs jump to WFO pretty much. Like the throttle cable was stuck on something but its not. Kill switch didn't work, key didn't work, even pulling the spark plug didn't shut off the motor. I blipped the throttle and it finally died after about 30 seconds of panic.

Anybody have any ideas for me? I'm getting ready to pull the carb just to do an inspection and see if something is up. This is a first. I'm completely baffled.

The PV should no effect on your idle, check your carb and cables again.
If your bike was to run wild ever again, shove your hand (with glove or rag) over the exhaust till it dies.
No air out = no air in and it will die.

Probably, there are an hot spot inside your engine igniting the mixture. Maybe you need to remove the carbon (burned oil) on piston and head.

But check again your carburetor. It's sticking open.

Thumbs up

I feel like an idiot. I pulled the carb, checked the float etc. and sprayed some carb cleaner through the jets for good measure. I swear the throttle cable was seated but after pulling it I think it must not have been seated quite right.

Still blew my mind when I pulled the plug and it kept running. Glad nothing else blew. Thanks guys.

Now I'm going riding in the morning.

Always check the cable is in place on top of the carb, common problem.

I like to listen for the throttle slide to land on the idle screw when you let it spring shut. Any lack of free play/movement in the cable and she don't clonk.
