Default 18 300 Kickstand

Anyone with an 18 found a resolution to the suicidal kickstands? meaning if you lift the bike the kick stand auto retracts. Not a fan of these and in bikes past there was always a way to 'fix' that issue. The new GasGas kick stand have an intricate little washer in there. Not coming up with a good solution yet.

The kickstand behaves that way because of euro requirement - or so I have been told.

Solution in the past has been to take a side link from a chain master clip and attach it to the kickstand (e.g. drill it out so kickstand mount bolt can go through. This gives you a new place to attach the spring at the bottom. Then hooking spring onto this will change spring position relative to the pivot point and make it so the kickstand doesn't auto retrace.

On edit - just found this on line for previous models..

Youtube clip of master clip fix on older models (don't know if it still applies) is here...

Have you tried flipping the tab on the stand to the other side (facing the front of bike) this appears to put it past the pivot point dont know it the stand will still work but worth a try.

Just by looking at the pictures.

You will need to replace the pivot bolt with one that is flush. This will allow the pivot tab to slide past the pivot bolt and change the spring fulcrum point.

that's about 1/2 of the solution. That pivot bolt is actually an intricate little bushing that goes through the stand and over a post in the frame. So yes, I think ill need a button head bolt, but more importantly I think I'll have to either 1) manufacture a new bushing that doesn't have the edge on it, or 2) cut the edge off the one that's on there.

I may take the bushing out and go to the hardware store and see if I can match up the inner and outer diameters.

Google "; KTM kickstand".
There are some aftermarket kickstands that have the countersunk pivot bolts.
