has anyone tried the stuff you would use on your truck bed such as line-x /rhino liner? and i would not cover the whole frame maybe just the bottom half ,swingarm and sub-frame. I am going to look into this as my 13 looks like crap already and I have about 20 hrs on it .

I did mine in a black hammertone, like gloss black with silver specs. Looked good, plus the guy had a lot of it and made me a deal. I'll try and find an old pic. I wouldn't do the swingarm, if anything I'd strip it. Natural looks better with age.
If you do the washes for the steering head, the top edge of the head tube will not be coated. The other option is just use masking tape on the races, and ask the coater if he can remove it after coating and before it goes into the oven. My '12 looks real nice and has held up excellent. My '07 isn't bad, just a bit dull. My '00 and '03 nickel frames were pretty poor in spots. I thought about the spray on bedliner coating for the lower spars before the frame guards existed. |

How bout a white frame with the blue and white six days plastic from the overseas bike. They look pretty sweet. 20 Hours and looking like crap ALARMS me. Man I wish it was nice out I would ride mine!

when i got the bike it came with the glide plate not the wrap around skid plate and i chipped the frame by the shifter and brake and it has spread around the bottom area of the frame. the top half looks ok.

JMO, but I am very sick of white bike parts, they age fast. Red frame is nice, as is black. The guy who coated my '03 did a few frames for Quad tards where he stripped and polished the steel, then did a red tinted clear coat. Looked pretty good.

I had my frame done in red and swingarm in black i'm going to fit white plastics to give it a little more of a modern look, Rather than spend big bucks on a conversion kit.

Ok next question, can i go ahead and rebuild my top end and still get the motor out whole. Id like to leave the motor in it while torqueing stuff etc.

I've done this a few times each way, and FWIW I'd much rather work on the motor standing at my bench than crouched on the floor. At the torque values we are talking about its a non-issue.
