Lets talk tires!
What tires/tyres do you guys run? What are your riding conditions? and why do you like them?
I am currently running AT81's front and rear with Tubliss. 8 psi in the front and 6 psi in the rear. I like the AT81 rear as an all arounder but it doesnt do any one thing exceptionally well. The front is awesome everywhere and I will stick with the fronts until they quit making them. Mid-pack B rider I ride in a good mix of everything. Rocks, Mud, Slimy slick mud, Roots, every once in a while we find some good dirt that makes you think you have landed in dirt bike heaven. Last edited by memphis2857; 02-15-2015 at 08:40 AM. |

I'm a fan of everything Pirelli Scorpion as I keep 3 different compounds on the shelf at all times for different terrain.
I run the same front tire compound, just swap out the rear tire.

I ride a mix of all terrain. Rock, dirt, loam, swamp... you name it.
My two favorite rears are Mich S12 and Goldentyre GT240. Both have superb traction where I need it, and seem to keep a good bite as they wear / round off.

Ask a question then don't even answer it yourself!
Currently MX51 front and rear (new-came with bike), 10 psi front/9 psi rear Desert - all types of rock, hard pack, deep sand, silt, lots of elevation change B-level hare scramble racer The MX51's seem to hook pretty good and are fairly predictable but seem to wear really quick and I'm already starting to break knobs. Not the most puncture resistant. Plan to switch back to my normal go-to tires here soon, Maxxis SI front/Maxxis IT rear, 8 psi front/5 psi rear w/Tubliss. They wear great, very predictable, very resistant to punctures, and I never have problems with chunking or breaking knobs.

Michelins M12 or S12 Front, S12 Rear for the mountains...or an AC10's if we are doing cruelsport/desert.
I ran tubliss for a year, didn't like them...for me I had to run what pressure I ran with tubes, otherwise I would flat spot my rims. Switching to bib mousses so I don't have to worry about flats ever a again. Terrain can vary wildly here, heck last weeks ride started off in the desert with rocks, decomposed granite, sand washes....then the higher in elevation you had....mud, roots, rock, and black dirt.

I ride on mostly hardwood forest loam (think chocolate cake) or sandy pine forest loam, with very little rock.
Pirelli Scorpion XC Mid-Soft front and rear are my favourites for this terrain. They hook-up well, work decent on grass track and don't chunk when I do ride on hard, rocky stuff. I tried a set of Motoz ST's last year. They seem decent, but I think they're on the heavier side. On the plus side, they're cheap and DOT legal if I get stopped by the federales when transitting on the road from one forest section to another. For the rocky, root covered trails up north (Canadian Shield) I run a Pirelli Scorpion XCMS on the front and a Scorpion XCMH (mid-hard) on the rear. |

S12XC front & rear with tubes. Quite pleased after getting used to them.
Mostly hardwood forests but variety is the name of the game in the upper midwest. Rocks, roots, mud, hardpack, sand, clay.
