Default Fixes for intermittently engaging 2t electric start

Are there any 'fixes' available - how well do they work what do they involve?

My bike is a 2013. Not sure on the other years, but a Honda Bendix fixed mine. I have thousands of starts on it with no problems now. There is a thread on here covering the process.

What does it do or not do? There is a fix that worked for me. Does it spin, but not engage?

This works

I also had a spinning bendix and not engaging.
After reading the topics I have stretcht the spring as recommended to 52mm.
And bam! Now it is perfect everytime!
What a big difference for such an easy and quick fix!

On the advice of a friend who seems to know a lot about these bikes, I also added 2 washers to where the starter motor bolts to the side of the cylinder. This shimmed it out a bit and seems to have created a better engagement angle.

Got the hole shot both days this past weekend at the HS races!
