Ran the Rekluse (z-start) on the 450 at a competition this last weekend. Works perfectly much better than the 200. Think there's something not 100% on my 200's clutch. Would still prefer to have a clutch overide. It was a very wet and slippery race and I had a few offs at funny angles. It's hard pulling the bike straight without tweaking the throttle a little and with a Rekluse it can be a bit annoying as you lurch forward.

Rekluse EXP
Look for a Rekluse EXP clutch to be available by mid February or shortly after.....

Forgive my ignorance of GG parts interchangeability.
Would this be for 2T and 4T Gassers? Years? 2005? 2007? 2009? I was planning on giving up and buying a Z-Start (or not). At least it would save me money. But, now... I have to give that EXP a try. And if it is interchangeable from models and years, I can remove it from my 2005 and put it in my next Gasser. Oh, heck, now I have to buy a string of Gassers just because of that dang EXP. |

The EXP uses steel weights to activate the spready-grabby action of the clutch unit. If tighter grabbing is needed, they have heavier brass weights. My guess is that Rekluse would have lighter (drilled out) steel weights and/or different mini-springs. The Rekluse rep didn't mention that alternative as being available, but it seems like a smart thing to do. If not, I can see drilling some holes myself, but they'd better be well-centered or you'll get uneven opening of the device and asymmetrical pressure on the entire mechanism.

From the February issue of Trials & Enduro News:
TrialsSource Fits G-G Rekluse Clutch Gas Gas USA and Boise Idaho's TrialsSource are helping 2010 National Enduro Series title sponsor Rekluse Motor Sports fit their latest generation Core EXP clutch to the 2009/2010 Gas Gas two-stroke enduro line up. Testing should be complete by mid-February and the clutch available to Gas Gas riders soon thereafter. "We're pretty excited about this project, it's a sweet bike and this is a great product to offer Gas Gas riders and racers," explains Al Youngwerth of Rekluse. Look for an evaluation of this exciting project in an upcoming issue of Trials & Enduro News! |

If you have the slipper clutch, you would need a center hub and steel plates from a regular clutch.
