Hi all,

New here but have been browsing for hours looking for some info regarding the carb and settings and jets.

Completely stock bike and a freshly repacked exhaust,
Settings the bike arrived with:
PWK38 AS1(screw top)
178 main
42 pilot
N1ED needle clip 2 from the top
Slide #7

Runs incredibly rich and idles extremely low
Will idle like normal and then drop to near nothing.

Is my info correct in that the float needs to be at 16mm?

I see many are running 175 or 172 mains

I've replaced the reeds and adjusted the power valve.

I ride in Cape Town South Africa from sea level to 500m
Temps ranging currently from 10deg C to 20deg C

I've got the following jets on hand
Mains: 175,178,180
Pilots: 38,40,42

I ride mainly single track with a mix of rocks and steep up hills.

Anyone got a good starting point for me to baseline this carb? TIA

Mikuni was obviously a typo, its Keihin. Needle change is first thing you need to do, see threads.
