Default 07 Ec 300 piston crossover

G'day,
I was just wondering what crossover piston fits my Ec300?
I have read that a Tm (Vertex), piston will fit, also a wiseco.
Just wondering what is best and most reliable?
I am not sure of piston in it at the moment as I wasn't really interested in that when we were pulling it down(crank bearing seized). The bike is at a mates place so I will ring and check what is stamped on it.
I figure while it is down I may as well change the piston and rings also.
Any thing else I should do?
I did read last night while searching for crank bearing info that the reed spacer , if removed will give more top end?
Is this true and what are the pro's and cons to removing this?
Cheers Mark

Ok thanks,
I was just talking with my mate about it .
Glad you have cleared it up.
By the way Ichecked the piston and it has a W with anumber after it .I know it is aftermarket so I guess all I can do is find out what ths piston spec is and replace with the same?
Also , does anyone know what rod comes standard in the 300 motor from the factory?

Cheers Mark

W I think is a wossner.I've used both wossner and wisco. Both are good.Vertex is a cheaper option that came standard in 07.There are threads in here about year/piston combos.
Is the rod a honda oem?

call your dealer, or gofasters, i would think they would know what the rod should be.

Cheers Guys,
Just got back from a week long ride.
Bike went well after a quick crank bearing swap and I will be pulling the piston in a weeks time to replace it.
One little question?
If we go from sea level to 1000m in height and also go from 15 degree celsius to 12 degree celsius(riding in thick fog and cold air).
What would you expect to do to change your jetting?
That is , would you expect to lean it off or richen it up?
Thanks again for the previous responses, and it is a woosner piston that I currently have.
Cheers Mark

Yes , but doesn't a raise in air density(cold air and fog), do the opposite?
This was what we thought?
Therefore, if true, what out weighs what?
Cheers Mark
